My Story

Kim Scarf Blog.png

This book is not for everyone, but if it is for you, you will know.

It was written out of real struggle, real questions, and a journey that often felt overwhelming. There were moments I didn’t think freedom was possible, or that God could still be present in the middle of it all.

But He was.

Standing on the Edge is a testimony of that truth. My prayer is that for the right reader, these pages will bring hope, clarity, and the reminder that God has never forgotten you.

Standing on the Edge:
A Fight for Freedom

Standing on the Edge takes the reader on an absorbing journey with the author, battling bulimia, alcoholism, self-harm, love and sex addiction and the complicated after effects of SRA (Satanic Ritual Abuse).

It is a story written in brutal honesty, as she felt that God would have wanted it told, dealing with complex shame and long suppressed subject matter which many would rather take with them to the grave.

It has been intended to encourage and help those who have found following God more of a challenge than they could ever have imagined, to set them free from darkness and to help them understand that God has never forgotten them and never will.

My Story

My story didn’t begin with clarity or confidence. It began in places I didn’t fully understand.

For many years, I lived with experiences and struggles that shaped how I saw myself, others, and even God. Shame, addiction, and deeply complex trauma were not just chapters in my life—they were realities I had to learn to navigate, often in silence. Faith, too, was not always simple. There were seasons where following God felt more like wrestling in the dark than walking in the light.

But even there. Especially there. God was present.

Over time, what began as survival slowly became a journey of healing. Not quick, not easy, and not without setbacks, but real. I began to understand that freedom is not about perfection, but about truth. That self-compassion is not self-indulgence, but a way of seeing ourselves through the lens of grace. And that God’s love reaches far deeper than our most hidden wounds.
